Place names which bring to mind the horrors of trench warfare with soldiers fighting waist deep in mud and water for a few yards of No-Man's land. The area is steeped in history with many famous landmarks including Tyne Cot cemetery, Ypres Cloth Hall and the Menin Gate.
A land of battles which tore the ground to pieces during the 1916 offensive. The opening day of the British 'big push' still ranks as the greatest casualty list in the history of the Army. The scars are still evident in the landscape and the great monument at Thiepval dominates the battlefield tour.
Operation Market Garden was an ingenious plan to capture the Rhine bridges and cut off the retreating German forces. Although unsuccessful, the battle cemented the British paratrooper's place in military legend as a formidable fighting force.
The miracle in which the British Expeditionary Force was rescued by the Royal Navy and the flotilla of privately owned 'Little Ships' whilst the nation held its breath in our darkest hour.
The largest seaborne landing in history where Allied soldiers launched the invasion of France to reclaim the continent from the years of domination and exploitation by Nazi Germany.
Keeping our customers happy is the most important thing we do. That is why we love to hear from you and listen to your feedback.
Here's what they say about us:
''Booked with Andy for a tour in Easter, couldn’t have been more helpful in helping me choose the right locations, and even helped me look into my granddads military past, amazing knowledge and experience, can’t wait '' - Jonathan I
''I've visited Great War battlefields in the past on family holidays but last year I was fortunate to take part in a tour led and organised by Andy. His expert knowledge and understanding of the conflict and the local geography added a new dimension and meaning ''. - Stuart H.
'' Everything was planned to perfection, allowing more than enough time to view the different place we visited. Tynecot was just the most tranquil place, yet haunting and moving at the same time, as you wonder around the cemetery'' - Jason S.
''The last post at the Menin Gate was one of the most moving things I've seen, reducing 40 rugby players to tears. We had a great day, and are heading on tour again this year and are having another tour round the Somme battlefields which all the lads are looking forward to again.'' - Gary H.
''Our last port of call was the Last Post at the Menin Gate, this is a very sobering experience and there was more than one person who seemed to have something in his eye. We are touring again at Easter'' - Matthew B.
Absolutely brilliant day – thanks for all the work you put in to making it so. Dad was really chuffed – especially with the folder – and the young ‘uns all enjoyed it.'' Stuart C.
